ABOUT · Q

More than the campaigns.

Marketing was never just a job for me. It started with a story, and it's stayed about the story ever since.

Portrait of Michael Quiroz AKA “Q”
EARLY 1990S
It started at Disneyland, not on the rides, but listening to "Uncle Al" talk about Sega.

I wanted to be in marketing ever since I was a kid. A family friend, "Uncle Al," worked in game marketing, and I remember being at Disneyland with him as a kid, skipping rides so I could keep listening to him tell me about upcoming Sega Genesis games. He was such a great storyteller, and had so much genuine passion for what he was marketing, that I knew right then I wanted to do that too.

MARKETING & PARTNERSHIP
I love marketing. I love partnership for what it lets marketing become.

I love marketing, full stop. Building a campaign that earns attention and a real place in culture is its own kind of magic trick, and I've chased that feeling for 20 years. As I got further into my career and started working in business development at Nyko, I found my way into partner marketing, and that's when it really clicked. Bringing multiple brands, IP, internal teams, and external teams together let me build bigger, more amazing things than marketing alone ever could. Partnership became how I practice marketing at its biggest scale, and it's what I strive to do day in and day out.

OUTSIDE OF WORK

I love a good story, wherever it shows up.

STORYTELLING

Beyond work, I love to experience good stories, from games to movies to a magic trick. I love being captivated by a story, and I love captivating an audience myself through the power of storytelling. It's the same instinct, just pointed in different directions.

EMERGING TECH

I spend a lot of my time in new and emerging spaces because they excite me both as a marketer and as a consumer. I always love experiencing what's next as soon as I possibly can, and finding ways to bring that technology into both my personal and professional life.
